Documentation Using Open Source Tools

See how Red Hat produces end-user documentation in 26 languages using purely open standards and their freely available open source tool chain.

Presentation description

Joshua Wulf, Technical Writer and Team Leader for Red Hat Engineering Content Services, will present a session on producing documentation using Docbook XML and Open Source software.

The session will showcase Red Hat's Publican tool chain, running on the newly-released Fedora 11: Leonidas distribution.

During the session, you will see end-user documentation being output to both PDF and HTML formats, and a custom implementation of the gEdit text editor, which greatly simplifies the XML authoring process.

Come yourself and invite colleagues

The session is free for all Queensland Technical Writer members and each person will receive a complimentary disk containing the Fedora 11: Leonidas distribution, and Publican.

Light refreshments will be provided as part of the presentation.
