About our association, the ASTC (NSW)The Australian Society for Technical Communication (NSW) Inc. was formed in 1987 as an association of communication professionals. Through personal interactions, and the formal and informal sharing of ideas and techniques, members have worked together to raise the profile of technical communication and promote the interests of its professional communicators. Members of its executive committee give up their time freely to plan and manage the ASTC's program, and to meet the responsibilities of their committee roles. Our committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting that is held in October-November each year, at the end of the first day of our annual conference. The committee meets monthly and is ably led and inspired by our President, Bede Sunter. Our ACT and Western Sydney members meet regularly and are also represented on the committee. Refer to our meetings calendar for time and venue information. Australia and world-wide professional connectionsOur society has an established relationship with similar societies in Victoria, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Through our activities we are constantly developing relationships with industry, government, communication houses and institutions of higher education. Our presidents past and present are themselves respected contributors to the Australian technical communication scene and our Society is endebted for much of its vision and growth to the guidance and encouragement of distinguished friends.
